SOMOS® dryers and drying systems:Ensuring high-quality final products by proper drying

SOMOS® high-performance drying systems meet many different material-specific requirements. If a starting material has not been properly dried for processing in injection molding machines or extruders, this has a negative impact on the final product. If the polymer is too moist, optical defects due to bubbles and streaks on the surface of the final product may appear. Modified physical properties, such as depressed melt viscosity, are not directly visible, but are nevertheless serious defects. Depending on the raw material, overdrying causes severe discoloration and modification of physical characteristics due to oxidation. Components can also outgas from the pellets and so negatively modify the required functions and serviceability of the final product.

The right systems for optimum drying

ProTec drying systems are perfectly tailored for each application, whether as individual units or complete systems, for small right up to very large material throughputs. Hot air dryers provide preheating and remove surface moisture, dry air dryers (adsorption dryers) dry hygroscopic materials while dryers using expanded compressed air are particularly suitable for drying small volumes.
